La Liga Round 43 (Regular Season): No surprise as #1 Boca defeat Instituto

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in La Liga. The round 43 was rather boring as all games ended with very predictable results. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

La Liga top team - Boca (27-9) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Instituto (23-13) in Buenos Aires 105-80. Boca shot 61.7 percent from the field and made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Boca outrebounded Instituto 34-23 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Boca shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Jose Vildoza (191-1996, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 assists. Colombian forward Andres Ibarguen (200-1996, college: Angelo St., agency: Helping Ballers) helped adding 17 points. At the losing side the former international point guard Leandro Vildoza (180-1994) responded with 14 points and 7 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 27-9 record. Instituto at the other side keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. Boca will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Instituto will play on the road against Obras (#4) in Buenos Aires and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game took place in Comodoro Rivadavia where higher ranked Gimnasia (20-18) was upset on its own court by eleventh ranked Ferro (19-18) 81-74. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Emiliano Lezcano (187-2001) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Vinicius Malachias accounted for 15 points. American forward Kenneth Horton (201-1989, college: CCSU, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for Gimnasia in the defeat. Gimnasia's coach Martin Villagran rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ferro have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to ninth place. Gimnasia lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 18 games lost. They share it with Regatas. Ferro will play against San Lorenzo (#13) in Almagro in the next round. Gimnasia will have a break next round.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 43: Instituto won against Argentino on the opponent's court 78-63. San Lorenzo unfortunately lost to Obras in a home game 88-95. Obera managed to beat Atenas on the road 85-81. Union defeated La Union on its own court 87-81.



Argentino - Instituto 63-78

Very expected game in Junin where 20th ranked Argentino (6-31) was defeated by fifth ranked Instituto (23-13) 78-63. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Alex Negrete (192-2001) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Uruguayan-Italian swingman Nicola Pomoli (195-1999) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Instituto players scored in double figures. American forward Raynere Thornton (201-1997, college: Memphis, agency: 011 Sports) came up with 11 points and 6 rebounds and Mexican swingman Manuel Hernandez (193-1991) added 12 points respectively for Argentino in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Instituto maintains fifth place with 23-13 record. Argentino lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 31 lost games. Instituto will play against higher ranked Obras (#4) in Buenos Aires in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. American forward Chris Clarke (196-1996, college: Texas Tech, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Swingman Cristian Cardo (198-1999) came up with 14 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Ivan Basualdo (203-1990) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for San Lorenzo in the defeat. Four Obras and five San Lorenzo players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Obras have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 24-13 record. San Lorenzo at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 20 games lost. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Union players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for center Jose Alessio (203-1987) who led the winners and scored 18 points. Facundo Chamorro accounted for 11 points and 4 assists for the winning side. American power forward DeMarco Owens (203-1996, college: Montevallo) came up with 18 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized American guard Romeao Ferguson (196-1997, college: Lipscomb) added 18 points respectively for La Union in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Union have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Atenas and San Martin. La Union at the other side keeps the eighteenth position with 24 games lost.
