Diaz's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

18-year old center Fabricio Diaz (205-C-2006) had an amazing evening in the last round for Riachuelo de La Rioja and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 46.
He had a double-double of 13 points and 16 rebounds, while his team beat Penarol (#14, 13-25) 81-75. Riachuelo is placed at 4th position in Argentinian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Riachuelo will need more victories to improve their 27-10 record. Diaz turned to be Riachuelo's top player in his first season with the team. Diaz has impressive league stats. He leads league in rebounds with 12.8rpg. Diaz is in league's top in assists (9th best: 2.2apg) and averages solid 66.7% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Fidel Cifuentes of Boca Juniors Buenos Aires. He is a in his first season at Boca Jrs.. In the last game Cifuentes recorded an impressive 27 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course Boca cruised to a 79-71 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Argentino (#13, 15-23). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Boca keeps 10th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 20-16 record is not bad and everything may still change. Cifuentes is a newcomer at Boca and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#6). He also registered 8.1 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Edwin Niebles (178-PG-2005) of Obera Tennis Club (#6). Niebles showcased his all-around game by recording 12 points, 12 rebounds (!!!) and 6 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Obera, leading his team to a 107-73 easy win against the lower-ranked La Union (#11, 17-18). Obera needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 24 victories and 12 lost games. Niebles has a great season in Argentina. After 35 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.7rpg (6th best).
