Thomas Cooper signs at Racing de Chivilcoy

Racing de Chivilcoy (La Liga Argentina) signed 33-year-old American 196cm guard Thomas Cooper (college: Calgary). He last played at Boca in the La Liga. In 51 games, he averaged 5.6ppg, 2.7rpg, and 1.1apg last season. La Liga Argentina will be a better match for him, and he can expect more playing time. Cooper helped his team win the league title and the Supercup. He also played 11 games in BCL Americas, where he averaged 6.1ppg and 2.3rpg. His contributions helped his team reach the BCL Americas final.
Cooper is a very experienced player, thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in eleven different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Latin American and of course North American leagues. Cooper has played professionally in Brazil (Brasilia), Canada (Rattlers), Germany, Mexico (Halcones de Ciudad Obregon), Paraguay (Olimpia Kings), Spain (Betanzos), Venezuela (Cocodrilos), Argentina (La Union, Argentino, Hispano Americano de Rio Gallegos and Sportivo America de Rosario), Dominican Republic (Caneros), The Basketball Tournament (Chattanooga T.) and Bolivia (Leones).
Among many awards, he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Brazilian League Honorable Mention in 2024.
He graduated from the University of Calgary in 2017 and it will be his ninth season in pro basketball. Cooper played for other colleges such as the University of Nebraska-Kearney and City College of San Francisco.
