Club Atletico Platense Florida (La Liga) signed 29-year-old American 203cm forward Derrick Woods (college: St.Peter's, agency: SLN) for the upcoming season. He will be joining fellow USA player Johnny Hughes III on the team. Woods most recently played for Bora in the Kosovan Superliga, where he averaged 10.8ppg and 7.8rpg in 8 games last season. Prior to that, he played for Asociacion Basquetbol Ancud (LNB) in the Chilean league, putting up impressive stats of 17.9ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.6apg, and 1.1bpg in 16 games and helping them win the cup.
He is a very experienced player. Woods has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to ten different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America). He has played professionally in Canada (Stingers), Chile (CD Universidad de Concepcion), Denmark (Amager), Estonia (Rapla), Hungary (Atomeromu), Israel (Maccabi Rehovot), Mexico (Venados), Argentina (Ciclista) and The Basketball Tournament (Peacock Nation).
Among many awards, he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Chilean League Honorable Mention in 2024.
Woods graduated from Saint Peter's University in 2020 and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball. He played for other colleges such as University of Delaware and St. Bonaventure University.
