Florencia Ortiz claims Argentinian LaLiga Femenina weekly honour

Florencia Ortiz (160-PG-2000) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Riachuelo de La Rioja and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 25-year old playmaker had the game-high 14 points adding nine rebounds and eight assists for Riachuelo in her team's victory, helping them to beat Bochas (#8, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 76-66. It allowed Riachuelo to consolidate first place in the Argentinian LaLiga Femenina. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Riachuelo won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Ortiz turned to be Riachuelo's top player in her first season with the team. Ortiz has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 5.5apg) and averages solid 4.5spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young power forward Maria Laviero (172-F/C-1996) of Club Union Florida. Laviero impressed basketball fans with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Bad luck as Union Florida lost that game 57-69 to Rocamora (1-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Laviero is well-known by Union Florida fans and she already established her position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Ornella Santelli of top-ranked Riachuelo de La Rioja. Santelli scored 21 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. She was a key player of Riachuelo, leading her team to a 69-64 win against Gorriones (#9, 0-2). Riachuelo has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Santelli also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. The season just started for Santelli as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be team's leader.
