Ashia McCalla claims Argentinian LaLiga Femenina Hoops Agents weekly honour

American Ashia McCalla (170-G-2000, agency: Interperformances) had a very impressive game in the last round for Club Union Deportiva San Jose and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 25-year old guard had the game-high 29 points adding six rebounds and two assists for San Jose in her team's victory, helping them to beat Hindu (#3, 7-3) 70-61. San Jose maintains the 4th position in their group in the Argentinian LaLiga Femenina. San Jose is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-5 record. In the team's last game McCalla had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 8 attempts. She turned to be San Jose's top player in her first season with the team. University of Maryland - Baltimore County graduate has very impressive stats this year. McCalla is in league's top in points (4th best: 15.9ppg). Worth to mention McCalla played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped her get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Jacqueline Soto (1997, agency: BIG) of Gorriones. Soto impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Of course she led Gorriones to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Riachuelo (#8, 3-7) 77-55. This victory allowed Gorriones to move up to 5th position in North. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 4-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. Soto is a newcomer at Gorriones and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Italian Regina Carosio (165-PG-1986) of second-ranked Deportivo Chanares. Carosio showcased her all-around game by recording 20 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. She was a key player of Chanares, leading her team to a 62-59 win against the lower-ranked Avellaneda (#7, 3-6). Chanares needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in North. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 3 lost games. Carosio has a great season in Argentina. After 11 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 14.2ppg (9th best) and assists with 4.5apg (4th best). She also has 2.9spg, a FGP of 52.1% and 3PT: 47.3%. Regina Carosio has also Argentinian passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.
