Berenice Lopez claims Argentinian LaLiga Femenina Hoops Agents weekly honour

Berenice Lopez (168-G-1999) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Atletico Lanus and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 13.
The 26-year old guard had the game-high 26 points adding five rebounds and four assists for Lanus in her team's victory, helping them to edge out El Bigua (#8, 3-9) 76-72. Thanks to this victory Lanus moved-up to the 9th position in Argentinian LaLiga Femenina. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Lanus have already lost 9 games and recorded just two victories. It's Lopez's second year at Lanus and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Lopez has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (5th best: 14.9ppg) and averages solid 3.5spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young point guard Florencia Ortiz (160-PG-2000) of Riachuelo de La Rioja. Ortiz impressed basketball fans with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Riachuelo lost that game 58-86 to the higher-ranked Chanares (#2, 9-4). Riachuelo managed to keep the same 8th spot in North. 9 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Riachuelo managed to get this year. Ortiz is a newcomer at Riachuelo and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.1ppg (#4). Her other stats are also decent: 7.3rpg and 4.8apg.

The third best performed player last round was international forward Maria Jourdheuil (180-PF-1994) of El Bigua (#8). Jourdheuil showcased her all-around game by recording 23 points, 16 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. Despite Jourdheuil's great performance the El Bigua lost 72-76 to slightly lower-ranked Lanus (#9, 2-9). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Jourdheuil has individually a great season in Argentina. After 12 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 14.9ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 13.9rpg (#1 in league).
