The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Provincial as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Provincial defeated 5th ranked La Union in Rosario 79-66. Very important is a home loss of second ranked Amancay (6-4) against fourth ranked Salta Basket (6-2) on Saturday night. Host Amancay was defeated by Salta Basket in a tough game in La Rioja 71-75. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Amancay. American Chance Hunter (198-1998, college: Cal Poly) stepped up and scored 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Wilfredo Alvarez chipped in 15 points. point guard Gaston Gerbaudo responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Salta Basket have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Amancay at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Salta Basket will play against Colon (#16) in Santa Fe in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Amancay will play at home against Barrio Parque (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Riojana between Barrio Parque and Riojana. Twelfth ranked Barrio Parque (4-3) got a very close victory on the road over 15th ranked Riojana (2-6). Barrio Parque managed to escape with a 1-point win 93-92 on Sunday evening. Blas Lino nailed 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Juan Luis Abeiro came up with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for Riojana in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Barrio Parque have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Comunicaciones. Riojana lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with six games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Barrio Parque will meet higher ranked Amancay (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Riojana will have a break next round.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 17: Rocamora was smashed by Ciclista on the road 92-62. Caroya lost to Jujuy on its own court 65-71. U.Mar del Plata unfortunately lost to Dep Viedma in Rio Negro 86-104. Pergamino managed to beat Rocamora at home 84-79. Villa S.Martin crushed Las Heras on the opponent's court 82-63. Pico FC smashed Racing A. in a home game 88-66.
The most impressive performance of 17th round was 20 points and 16 rebounds by Latraius Mosley of Pico FC.



Ciclista - Rocamora 92-62

No shocking result in a game when eleventh ranked Ciclista (4-5) crushed 15th ranked Rocamora (2-6) in Junin 92-62 on Saturday. Ciclista dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Rocamora's 26 and made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Rocamora 41-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. Franco Lombardi (187-1998) nailed 18 points for the winning side and Ecuadorian Erick Mecias (194-2003) accounted for 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Ciclista players scored in double figures. point guard Agustin Cavallin (188-2001) came up with 13 points and forward Juan Fernandez (195-1999, agency: BIG) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Rocamora in the defeat. Esteban Caffaro (200-2003) came up with 16 points and 7 rebounds and Ecuadorian Erick Mecias (194-2003) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Caroya in the defeat. Caroya's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Jujuy moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Lanus and Caroya. Caroya lost third consecutive game.
