Gian Rossi claims Argentinian LDB weekly honour

Talented Gian Rossi (185-PG-2005) put on an amazing game in the last round for Penarol Mar del Plata and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 20-year old playmaker had a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Olimpico (#19, 1-11) 77-70. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Penarol is placed at 13th position in Argentinian LDB. Penarol is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-10 record. In the team's last game Rossi had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Penarol, through which he has constantly improved. Rossi has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (8th best: 17.8ppg), assists (7th best: 4.5apg) and averages solid 54.2% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Argentinian Tomas Delia) of Racing de Chivilcoy. Delia impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Racing Ch. lost that game 85-95 to the higher-ranked La Union (#3, 11-4). This loss caused Racing Ch. to drop to 14th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-6 record. Delia is a newcomer at Racing Ch. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Ecuadorian Carlos Hurtado (212-F-2006) of Independiente de Oliva (#4). Hurtado scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Independ.O., leading his team to a 85-83 win against the lower-ranked Platense (#9, 7-5). Independ.O. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 3 lost games. Hurtado has a great season in Argentina. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.0ppg (7th best) and rebounds with 13.7rpg (#1 in league).

9. Joaquin Goncalves) of Platense - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Exequiel Lezcano (180-PG-2007) of Regatas - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
