Sofia Novoa claims Argentinian LaLiga Femenina weekly honour

Talented Sofia Novoa (174-PG-2008) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Obras Basket Buenos Aires (they play in South) and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3 (Second Stage).
The 17-year old playmaker had the game-high 25 points adding four rebounds and three assists for Obras as her team lost the game against Ferro (#2, 16-4) 68-85. Despite this loss Obras managed to keep Argentinian LaLiga Femenina leading position. But there are still few teams in the league, which Obras can lose the games to. Now they are 17-4 and hopefully next round will be better. In the team's last game Novoa had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 8 attempts. It was one of impressive evenings for her as usually she does not deliver so high stats. Sofia Novoa averages this season 7.3ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Italian forward Magali Vilches (182-F-2002) of Club Deportivo de Berazategui Buenos Aires. Vilches impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Berazategui lost that game 61-78 to El Talar (15-3). The Second Stage is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Vilches is a newcomer at Berazategui and despite she is not a team leader yet, every game she becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was Giuliana Baccarelli (165-G-2004) of second-ranked Ferrocarril Oeste Buenos Aires. Baccarelli showcased her all-around game by recording 10 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists in the last round. She was a key player of Ferro, leading her team to a 85-68 easy win against #1 ranked Obras in a game of the week. Ferro is closer and closer to top of the standings in South. They will still need more victories. But 16-4 record is not that bad... Baccarelli has a great season in Argentina. After 20 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 3.6apg (6th best).
