Deion McClenton claims Argentinian La Liga Hoops Agents weekly honour

American Deion McClenton (208-C) put on an amazing game in the last round for Racing de Chivilcoy and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 22.
The center had a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Instituto (#7, 9-9) 87-78. Racing Ch. is placed at 16th position in Argentinian La Liga. Racing Ch. is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-9 record. It was one of impressive evenings for McClenton as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Keiser University graduate has very impressive stats this year. McClenton is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 7.5rpg) and averages solid 66.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international guard Agustin Perez (192-G-1999) of Penarol Mar del Plata. Perez impressed basketball fans with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Penarol lost that game 76-87 to slightly higher-ranked Independ.O. (#4, 9-5). This loss caused Penarol to drop to 6th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 9-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Perez is a newcomer at Penarol and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Italian Gaston Whelan (187-PG-1994) of Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba (#7). Whelan scored 26 points. Despite Whelan's great performance the Instituto lost 78-87 to the lower-ranked Racing Ch. (#16, 5-9). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Instituto needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 9 victories and 9 lost games. Whelan has a very solid season. In 18 games in Argentina he scored 12.2ppg. Gaston Whelan has also Argentinian passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.
