Bender's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

19-year old shooting guard Viktor Bender (197-SG-2006) had a great game in the last round for Regatas Corrientes and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 24.
He had a double-double of 28 points and 13 rebounds, while his team outclassed Olimpico (#19, 1-17) with 40-point margin 110-70. Regatas is placed at 3rd position in Argentinian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Regatas will need more victories to improve their 14-4 record. In the team's last game Bender had a remarkable 80.0% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Regatas, through which he has constantly improved. Bender has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 10.9rpg) and averages solid 2.3spg and 50.7% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Edwin Niebles (178-PG-2005) of Obera Tennis Club. He is Colombian guard in his 3rd season at Obera. In the last game Niebles recorded an impressive double-double of 16 points and 18 rebounds. Of course Obera cruised to a 82-71 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Quimsa (#13, 6-11). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Obera managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 9th place. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 9-9 record is not bad and everything may still change. Niebles is one of the most experienced players at Obera and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to Franco Gimenez (190) of league's second-best La Union Formosa. Gimenez showcased his all-around game by recording 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. He was a key player of La Union, leading his team to a 91-74 easy win against the lower-ranked Platense (#6, 12-6). La Union needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 15 victories and 4 lost games. Gimenez has a great season in Argentina. After 19 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.5ppg (3rd best). He also has 2.7spg and a FGP of 59.2%.
