Maurice Walton claims Argentinian La Liga Argentina Hoops Agents weekly honour

American Maurice Walton (206-F-1998) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Bochas de Colonia Caroya and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents La Liga Argentina Player of the Week award for round 28.
The 27-year old forward had the game-high 23 points adding seven rebounds and three assists for Caroya in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Riojana (#10, 7-8) 79-75. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings in Conferencia Norte. Thanks to this victory Caroya moved-up to the 13th position in Argentinian La Liga Argentina. Caroya is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-8 record. In the team's last game Walton had a remarkable 81.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Caroya's top player in his first season with the team. Benedictine University at Mesa graduate has very impressive stats this year. Walton is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 9.1rpg) and averages solid 61.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Italian center Damian Tintorelli (205-C-1981) of Ciclista Juninense. Tintorelli impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. It was enough for Ciclista to edge the lower-ranked Pergamino (#13, 5-13) by 5 points 75-70. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in Conferencia Sur. But Ciclista managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 10th place. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-10 record. Tintorelli is a newcomer at Ciclista and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was another Caroya's star - Juan Frontera (178-PG-2002). Frontera showcased his all-around game by recording 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the last round. He was another key player of Bochas de Colonia Caroya, helping his team with a 79-75 win against the higher-ranked Riojana (#10, 7-8). The chances of Caroya ranking at the top of Conferencia Norte, however are very questionable as they have already lost 8 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Frontera could help Caroya to bring them higher in the standings. Frontera has a very solid season. In 10 games in Argentina he scored 15.3ppg. He also has 5.7rpg, 3.4apg and and 3PT: 44.6%.
