Tomas Monacchi claims Argentinian La Liga weekly honour

International Shooting guard Tomas Monacchi (198-SG-1997) had a great game in the last round for Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 29.
The 28-year old shooting guard had the game-high 24 points adding eight rebounds for Instituto in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Argentino (#19, 3-18) with 35-point margin 91-56. Instituto is placed at 3rd position in Argentinian La Liga. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Instituto will need more victories to improve their 13-10 record. In the team's last game Monacchi had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Instituto and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Monacchi has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 7.0rpg) and averages solid 55.2% FGP and 41.6% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Derrick Woods (203-F-1996, agency: SLN) of Club Atletico Platense Florida. Woods impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. It was enough for Platense to edge the higher-ranked Ferro (#8, 11-6) by 1 point 86-85. Woods is a newcomer at Platense and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.8ppg (#7). He also registered 7.1 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Jonatan Torresi (190-G/F-1994) of Ferrocarril Oeste Buenos Aires (#8). Torresi scored 28 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Despite Torresi's great performance the Ferro lost 85-86 to the lower-ranked Platense (#15, 8-11). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Ferro needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 11 victories and 6 lost games. Torresi has a very solid season. In 17 games in Argentina he scored 9.5ppg.
