Martina Torres claims Argentinian LaLiga Femenina weekly honour

Martina Torres (180-SF-2002) put on an amazing game in the last round for Independiente de Neuquen and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 23-year old had the game-high 24 points adding eight rebounds and five assists for Independiente in her team's victory, helping them to crush Rocamora (#15, 1-6) with 22-point margin 80-58. Independiente is placed at 8th position in Argentinian LaLiga Femenina. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Independiente will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. In the team's last game Torres had a remarkable 53.3% from 2-point range. She turned to be Independiente's top player in her first season with the team. Torres has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (6th best: 15.7ppg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American swingman Nija Collier (183-G/F-1999) of Club Union Florida. Collier impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 14 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Union Florida was edged by the higher-ranked Ferro (#3, 5-1) 64-60. Union Florida managed to keep the same 11th spot in the standings. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 4-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. Collier is one of the most experienced players at Union Florida and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Dalma Piri (175-SG-2001) of Ferrocarril Oeste Buenos Aires (#3). Piri scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. She was a key player of Ferro, leading her team to a 64-60 win against the lower-ranked Union Florida (#11, 4-4). Ferro is closer and closer to top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 5-1 record is not that bad... Piri has a very solid season. In 6 games in Argentina she scored 11.3ppg. She also has 5.3rpg, 2.7spg, a FGP of 58.3% and 3PT: 46.4%.
