Vergara's 25 points and 9 rebounds give him Hoops Agents La Liga Argentina Player of the Week award

24-year old Agustin Vergara (200-SF-2001) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata and receives a Hoops Agents La Liga Argentina Player of the Week award for round 38.
He had the game-high 25 points adding nine rebounds and three assists for GELP in his team's victory, helping them to beat Racing A. (#10, 10-11) 94-89. GELP maintains the 3rd position in their group in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. GELP will need more victories to improve their 14-5 record. In the team's last game Vergara had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be GELP's top player in his first season with the team. Agustin Vergara averages this season 13.4ppg.

Second best performed player last round was Tomas Verbauwede (198-F-1999) of El Talar Buenos Aires. He is a forward in his first season at El Talar. In the last game Verbauwede recorded an impressive double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds. Of course El Talar cruised to a 89-79 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Pergamino (#16, 5-17). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in Conferencia Sur. El Talar keeps 13th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-11 record. Verbauwede is a newcomer at El Talar and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Matias Nunez (202-F/C-1995) of Racing Club Avellaneda (#10). Nunez scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Nunez's great performance the Racing A. lost 89-94 to the higher-ranked GELP (#3, 14-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Racing A. ranking at the top of Conferencia Sur, however are very questionable as they have already lost 11 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Nunez could help Racing A. to bring them higher in the standings. Nunez has a very solid season. In 21 games in Argentina he scored 14.6ppg. He also has 6.4rpg, 3.1apg and a FGP of 55.1%.
