LaLiga Femenina top team - Chanares (8-0) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat sixteenth ranked San Jose (1-7) 83-74. 26 personal fouls committed by San Jose helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Stefania Lucero (172-1993, agency: BIG) had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Macarena Galindez chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Victoria Zogbe responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Chanares have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. San Jose lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth place with seven games lost. Chanares will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San Jose will play on the road against Riachuelo (#18) in La Rioja and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Riachuelo (0-7) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to fourteenth ranked Avellaneda (3-5) 71-61. Uruguayan center Selena Medrick (177-2002) notched 6 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and Pilar Saez supported her with 16 points. Even 25 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals by point guard Florencia Ortiz (160-2000) did not help to save the game for Riachuelo. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Avellaneda moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Bigua and Bochas. Riachuelo at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Avellaneda will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Riachuelo will play against San Jose (#16) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
A very close game took place in Santiado del Estero between Avellaneda and Quimsa. Fourteenth ranked Avellaneda (3-5) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Quimsa (5-2). Avellaneda managed to escape with a 3-point win 68-65 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Quimsa. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
