Argentinian La Liga Argentina round 39 best performance: Juan Marini

Swingman Juan Marini (191-F/G-2000) had a great game in the last round for Atletico Gorriti de Jujuy, receiving a Hoops Agents La Liga Argentina Player of the Week award for round 39.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (24 points, nine rebounds and eight assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Independiente (#11, 9-14) 97-89. Jujuy maintains the 6th position in their group in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina. Jujuy is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 12-10 record. In the team's last game Marini had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Juan Marini averages this season 9.6ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Matias Morera (191-SG-1999) of Independiente BBC de Santiago del Estero. Morera had a very good evening with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Independiente lost that game 89-97 to the higher-ranked Jujuy (#6, 12-10). Independiente managed to keep the same 11th spot in Conferencia Norte. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 9-14 record. Morera is well-known at Independiente and is a proven leader in his second season with the team.

Third on the list of top players last round was Juan Luis Abeiro (200-C/F-1988) of Fusion Riojana (#15). Abeiro scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds (!!!). Despite Abeiro's great performance the Riojana lost 79-95 to slightly higher-ranked Hindu (#13, 8-12). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Riojana not to end season at such low position in Conferencia Norte, however are less than slim as they have already lost 15 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Abeiro could try to bring Riojana's a little bit higher in the standings. Abeiro has individually a great season in Argentina. After 22 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.3ppg (3rd best).
