Roquez Johnson claims Argentinian La Liga Argentina weekly honour

Experienced American Roquez Johnson (201-C-1992, agency: BIG) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Lanus Buenos Aires and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents La Liga Argentina Player of the Week award for round 43.
The 33-year old center had a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat Villa Mitre (#11, 9-12) 88-74. Lanus maintains the 8th position in their group in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Lanus will need more victories to improve their 13-10 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Johnson as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Roquez Johnson averages this season 9.2ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Ecuadorian power forward Matias Nunez (202-F/C-1995) of Racing Club Avellaneda. Nunez impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he led Racing A. to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Ciclista (#14, 8-16) 83-59. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in Conferencia Sur. Racing A. keeps 10th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 12-11 record is not bad and everything may still change. Nunez is a newcomer at Racing A. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was another Racing A.'s star - Rafael Rosende (198-F-1997). Rosende scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. He was another key player of Racing Club Avellaneda, helping his team with a 83-59 easy win against the lower-ranked Ciclista (#14, 8-16). Racing A. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Conferencia Sur. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 11 lost games. Rosende has a very solid season. In 21 games in Argentina he scored 10.2ppg. He also has 7.2rpg and a FGP of 52.0%.
