Bettiga's double-double lands him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

Paraguayan Center Leonel Bettiga (208-C) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Ferrocarril Oeste Buenos Aires and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 36.
He had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat San Lorenzo (#16, 9-16) 90-77. Ferro is placed at 2nd position in Argentinian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Ferro will need more victories to improve their 16-7 record. In the team's last game Bettiga had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Ferro and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Leonel Bettiga averages this season 9.9ppg and 5.2rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Al Thornton (203-F-1983, agency: BIG) of Penarol Mar del Plata. He is American forward in his first season at Penarol. In the last game Thornton recorded an impressive 21 points and 5 rebounds. Bad luck as Penarol was edged by slightly lower-ranked San Martin (#12, 12-14) 88-84. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Penarol keeps 10th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 13-12 record is not bad and everything may still change. Thornton is a newcomer at Penarol and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Tomas Monacchi (198-SG-1997) of Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba (#9). Monacchi scored 27 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. He was a key player of Instituto, leading his team to a 86-67 easy win against the lower-ranked San Lorenzo (#16, 9-16). Instituto needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 15 victories and 13 lost games. Monacchi has a great season in Argentina. After 28 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.4rpg (4th best).
