Gonzalo Torres claims Argentinian La Liga Argentina Hoops Agents weekly honour

Experienced International Power forward Gonzalo Torres (201-F/C-1994) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's leader Provincial de Rosario and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents La Liga Argentina Player of the Week award for round 53.
The 31-year old power forward had the game-high 27 points adding seven rebounds for Provincial in his team's victory, helping them to beat El Talar (#14, 9-17) 83-74. It allowed Provincial to consolidate first place in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Provincial has a very solid 23-7 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Torres had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Gonzalo Torres averages this season 10.3ppg and 6.5rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-F/C-1985) of Independiente BBC de Santiago del Estero. Amicucci impressed basketball fans with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Of course Independiente cruised to a 98-89 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Colon SF (#16, 9-20). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in Conferencia Norte. Independiente keeps 11th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 14-16 record. Amicucci is well-known by Independiente fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.3ppg (#6). He also registered 9.8 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Juan Frontera (178-PG-2002) of Bochas de Colonia Caroya (#10). Frontera showcased his all-around game by recording 28 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the last round. Despite Frontera's great performance the Caroya lost 94-101 to the lower-ranked Colon SF (#16, 9-20). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Caroya ranking at the top of Conferencia Norte, however are very questionable as they have already lost 15 games, recording just fourteen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Frontera could help Caroya to bring them higher in the standings. Frontera has a very solid season. In 25 games in Argentina he scored 15.6ppg. He also has 6.0rpg and a FGP of 54.8%.
