Fernandez's double-double lands her Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

21-year old center Julia Fernandez (185-C-2004) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Ferrocarril Oeste Buenos Aires and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 23.
She had a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds, while her team outclassed Rocamora (#17, 1-13) with 43-point margin 103-60. Ferro maintains the 4th position in Argentinian LaLiga Femenina. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Ferro will need more victories to improve their 11-5 record. It's Fernandez's second year at Ferro and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Fernandez has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in assists (6th best: 1.5apg) and averages solid 53.2% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Agustina Marin (170-SG-2003) of El Talar. She is international guard in her first season at El Talar. In the last game Marin recorded an impressive 36 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. It was enough for El Talar to edge slightly lower-ranked Union Florida (#7, 8-5) by 5 points 90-85. El Talar's 5th position in the standings has not changed. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 9-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Marin is a newcomer at El Talar and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Camila Suarez (178-SG-2000) of Gorriones (#12). Suarez showcased her all-around game by recording 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the last round. Despite Suarez's great performance the Gorriones lost 65-70 to the higher-ranked Avellaneda (#9, 8-8). But her team cannot count on just a single shooter as she also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Gorriones ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Suarez could help Gorriones to bring them higher in the standings. Suarez has a very solid season. In 3 games in Argentina she scored 19.7ppg.
