The Estrella Club vs De Vuyst series!! For both division! Its been a while since, we've seen any team from the Estrella Club in the Play-offs let alone the Finals. Yes, I'm talking about the big league division games - LM and LS division. But, this year, they are there in full force. The Estrella teams are the underdogs here and the superior teams will be the De Vuyst Impact. But, I'm not writing off the Extrella club, because they made it this far and with some good basketball, they might just be able to cause the upset....don't want to say with a little luck..might just jinx them. The official start of National 2013/2014 Basketball was to be on April 11, 2014, but the Federation had to cancel and rescheduled those games. So, technically speaking the first set of games were played on April 12th, 2014. The big men league games consist of two division, namely the Liga Superior and the Liga Minor, respectively LS and LM for short. Both LM and the LS division consisted of four teams each, whereas the LS division was scheduled to play four complete rounds for a total of 24 games and the LM was scheduled to play a total of 18 games. So, these two division total for 42 regular competition games. Adding a flare to the LS division was the participation of the Juniors Selection, the main objective was to give these young athletes more playing time and getting them ready representing Aruba. In all it was a good idea and we have to wait on the results, when they return for the representation. They played against big men and they played like big men.
For both the LM and LS division, there would be no play-off and the two top teams, would go directly into the Finals best of five series. These would be two organizations, Estrella vs De Vuyst Impact teams. There are circumstances surrounding the standings for both division, in both division two teams were confronted using illegal players, causing their team to lose, that they actually won, game by forfeit. These forfeit games naturally effected the over standings. So, not everyone is happy with the results these forfeit imposed on the standing, but these are the rules.
