BC Valga-Valka/Maks&Moorits (LatEstBL) landed 25-year old Bahamas international guard L.J. Rose (190-91kg-93, college: BYU). He played most recently at Salt Lake City Stars (NBA G League) in the U.S. In 17 games he averaged just 2.4ppg, 1.0rpg and 2.1apg last season. Rose's team made it to the WCC Tournament Semifinals in 2017. He also represented Bahamas at the CBC Championships in Tortola (Virgin Islands) five years ago. Rose's team won Gold. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 2017 and it is his second season in pro basketball.

They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Bahamas Univ. will need more victories to improve their 9-4 record. In the team's last game Sylvester had a remarkable 61.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Bahamas Univ.'s top player in his first season with the team. Kemsy Sylvester averages this season 22.1ppg and 10.4rpg.
The second best player in last round's games was Adam Johnson of Shockers. Johnson had a very good evening with a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds. It was enough for Shockers to edge the lower-ranked Defenders (#9, 1-12) 85-81. Shockers' 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 7-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Johnson is a newcomer at Shockers, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was former international guard D'Shon Taylor (196-G-93) of league's top team Giants. Taylor got into 30-points club by scoring 33 points in the last round. He went also for seven rebounds and four assists. He was a key player of Giants, leading his team to a 99-89 win against #2 ranked Stingers in a game of the week. Giants have amazing season winning all 11 games without a single defeat. Taylor turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Taylor has a very solid season. In 11 games in Bahamas he scored 19.5ppg. He also has 6.4rpg and 4.1apg.

We bring you last week's top performances from Bahamians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
#1. This week's number one is former international center DeAndre Ayton (216-98, college: Arizona, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the Phoenix Suns (11-47) in their last game on Friday. Despite Ayton's very good performance the Phoenix Suns (11-47) were defeated 117-107 on the road by the Golden State Warriors.
He recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 12 rebounds. Ayton also added and 3 steals.
It's Ayton's first season with the team.
He has individually a very good year with high stats. Ayton averages: 16.5ppg, 10.6rpg, 2.0apg, 2FGP: 58.8%(369-628) and FT: 77.4%.
He played for the Bahamas senior national team three years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an international guard Buddy Hield (193-93, college: Oklahoma, currently plays in NBA). Hield led Sacramento Kings to a victory over the Miami Heat (25-29) 102-96 in the NBA on Friday night.
He was MVP of the game. Hield scored 23 points, had 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 34 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. The Sacramento Kings have 30-26 record this season.
Hield has very impressive stats this year: 20.5ppg, 5.1rpg, 2.3apg, 2FGP: 50.1%, 3FGP: 45.5%(190-418) and FT: 85.8% in 55 games he played so far.
He is in the roster of the Bahamas senior national team.
#3. The Bahamas player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward David Nesbitt (200-91, college: St.Thomas, FL, currently plays in Brazil). Nesbitt contributed to Flamengo's victory against the closely-ranked Vivo/Franca (14-3) 79-74 in the Brazilian NBB in Tuesday night's game.
He scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and made 3 blocks.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Clube de Regatas do Flamengo (8-2) is placed second in the NBB.
Nesbitt's overall stats this season are: 7.8ppg, 4.9rpg, 2FGP: 59.5%(47-79), 3FGP: 25.5% and FT: 72.7%.
He is also a member of the Bahamas senior national team.
#4. An experienced power forward Christopher Turnquest (204-83, college: Miles CC, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Arenys (8-8) in their last game. Despite Turnquest's very good performance the fourth-placed Arenys (8-8) was edged 74-73 at home by the leading Ilerdauto Nissan Pardinyes Lleida in the Group C-B.
He had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 10 rebounds in 24 minutes.
It was Arenys' third consecutive loss in a row.
Turnquest has very impressive stats this year: 16.0ppg and 11.3rpg in 16 games.
He used to play for the Bahamas national team
back in 2006.
#5. International guard L.J. Rose (190-93, college: BYU, currently plays in Latvia) was the main contributor in Valga-Valka's victory against the closely-ranked Latvijas Universitate (6-16) 84-76 in the Latvian LatEstBL on Sunday night.
Rose was the best player in that game. He scored 20 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 7 assists; not bad, considering it's only Rose's second season in pro basketball. BC Valga-Valka/Maks&Moorits (6-14) is placed 12th in the LatEstBL.
This season Rose has very high stats. He averages: 16.0ppg and 11.3rpg.
Rose has a dual citizenship: Bahamas and American.
Despite he played previously for the USA U16 national team, Rose is currently in the Bahamas national team roster.
#6. Forward Dwight Coleby (206-94, college: W.Kentucky, currently plays in Japan) was not able to secure a victory for Akita Happinets (13-27) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Akita Happinets (#5) were crushed 85-58 in Kariya by the higher-ranked (#3) Aishin Sea Horses in the East group.
Coleby had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 5 assists and 3 steals in 25 minutes.
It was Akita Happinets' sixth consecutive loss in a row.
Coleby has relatively good stats this year: 11.0ppg, 10.8rpg, 2.3apg and 1.7spg in six games.
He is an international player who is currently on the senior Bahamas National Team roster.
#7. International point guard Jaron Cornish (180, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to a Stony Brook's victory against the University of Massachusetts - Lowell (2-4) 76-65 in the NCAA last Saturday.
Cornish scored 30 points (!!!) and grabbed 6 rebounds.
The State University of New York,Stony Brook has 4-0 conference record this season.
So far his team won all four games in the conference.
Cornish's overall stats this season are: 8.6ppg, 4.0rpg and 3.5apg.
He is also Bahamas national team player.
#8. Forward Travis Munnings (198-94, currently studies in the States) helped La-Monroe win their game against the Georgia Southern University (0-5) 88-79 in the NCAA in Friday night's game.
He recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 11 rebounds.
The University of Louisiana at Monroe has 3-2 conference record this season.
Munnings is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in La-Monroe's roster.
This season Munnings has relatively solid stats: 13.4ppg, 7.4rpg and 2.5apg.
He plays currently for the Bahamas national team.
#9. International power forward Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Japan) is a teammate of previously mentioned Dwight Coleby. But that was another game of his team in Japanese B League which we would like to mention.
Coleby couldn't help Akita Happinets (13-27) in their game against Hitachi Sunrockers (18-22).
He was the second best scorer with 9 points. Coleby also added 10 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 31 minutes.
But Akita Happinets (#5) lost 62-69 in Tokyo to the higher-ranked (#4) Hitachi Sunrockers in the East group.
Coleby has reliable stats this year: 12.8ppg, 8.8rpg, 1.4apg and 2.4bpg in 36 games.
Worth to mention Coleby played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. He is also in the roster of the Bahamas national team.
#10. Guard Shamar Burrows (190-97, currently plays in Canada) helped Dalhousie University win their game against the Panthers (4-11) crushing them 98-61 in the U Sports in Sunday night's game.
Burrows scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in a mere 19 minutes.
The Dalhousie University has a solid 10-6 record this season.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
This year Burrows' overall stats are: 2.5ppg and 1.5rpg in 13 games.
He is a former U16 international player as six years ago he still played for the Bahamas national team.
#11. Former U17 international forward Charles Bain (203-96, is currently at the American university) helped Robert Morris win their game against the Bryant University 72-59 in the NCAA last Thursday.
Bain scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Bain averaged so far 10.3ppg and 4.5rpg.
He used to play for the Bahamas U17 national team

#12. Former international swingman J.R. Cadot (196-87, college: TCU, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Moron (9-13) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Moron (#9) was edged 60-57 on the opponent's court by the higher-ranked Almansa (#4) in the East group.
Cadot was the second best scorer with 11 points. He also added 6 rebounds.
Cadot's total stats this season are: 5.5ppg and 3.5rpg.
He used to play for the Bahamas national team

#13. International center Zane Knowles (208-92, agency: Octagon Europe, college: Texas A&M-CC, currently plays in France) couldn't help C'Chartres in their game against Poitiers in the French ProB (second division).
He scored 9 points and blocked 2 shots.
His team was defeated 94-79.
Knowles averaged so far 12.3ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.2bpg.
He is also Bahamas national team player.
#14. Former U17 international forward Qyemah Gibson (196-97, currently plays in Canada) helped Saint Mary's University win their game against the Capers 90-77 in the U Sports in Friday night's game.
Gibson scored 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in only 12 minutes.
This year Gibson's total stats are: 5.6ppg and 2.8rpg in 16 games.
