DEANDRE AYTON

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Bahamians who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is former international center
DeAndre Ayton (216-98, college:
Arizona, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the
Phoenix Suns (17-57) in their last game. Despite Ayton's very good performance the Phoenix Suns (17-57) lost
101-116 on the road to the Chicago Bulls.
He had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 12 rebounds. Ayton also added 3 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals in 35 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. It was Suns' third consecutive loss in a row.
It's Ayton's first year with the team.
Ayton has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 16.5ppg, 10.3rpg, 1.8apg, 2FGP: 58.9%(492-835) and FT: 74.6% in 68 games he played so far.
Ayton played for the Bahamas senior national team three years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an international guard
Buddy Hield (193-93, college:
Oklahoma, currently plays in NBA). He led
Sacramento Kings to a victory over the Dallas Mavericks (29-44)
116-100 in the NBA last Thursday.
Hield was MVP of the game. He scored 29 points (!!!) and added 4 assists; not bad, considering it's only Hield's third season in pro basketball. The Sacramento Kings have 36-37 record this season.
This year Hield has very high stats. He averages: 20.9ppg, 5.2rpg, 2.5apg, 2FGP: 48.7%, 3FGP: 43.2% and FT: 87.9%.
Hield is in the roster of the Bahamas senior national team.
#3. The Bahamas player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international power forward
Christopher Turnquest (204-83, college:
Miles CC, currently plays in Spain). He was the main contributor in
Arenys' victory against the 12th-ranked Sant Josep (8-14) crushing them
80-55 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Saturday night's game.
Turnquest was the best player in that game. He scored 16 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and made 3 blocks.
Arenys Basquet Joventut (12-10) is placed fifth in Group C-B.
There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
It's Turnquest's first season with the team.
Turnquest has relatively good stats this year: 13.5ppg, 10.6rpg, 2FGP: 52.6%, 3FGP: 25.6% and FT: 74.2%.
He played for the Bahamas national team thirteen years ago.
#4. Forward
David Nesbitt (200-91, college:
St.Thomas, FL, currently plays in Brazil) contributed to an easy victory against the 11th-ranked Brasilia (9-16) crushing them
97-54 in the Brazilian NBB last Sunday.
Nesbitt recorded 9 points in only 14 minutes.
Clube de Regatas do Flamengo (21-4) is placed first in the NBB.
It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row.
They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial.
This year Nesbitt's overall stats are: 7.7ppg and 4.7rpg in 23 games.
He is also Bahamas national team player.
#5. International forward
Travis Munnings (198-94, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to
La-Monroe's victory against the Kent State University (11-7)
87-77 in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1 on Thursday night.
Munnings scored 28 points (!!!), had 9 rebounds and dished 4 assists.
The University of Louisiana at Monroe has 9-9 conference record this season.
The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA.
Munnings is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in La-Monroe's roster.
This season he has relatively solid stats: 15.0ppg, 7.8rpg and 2.5apg.
Munnings plays currently for the Bahamas national team.
#6. Point guard
Jaron Cornish (180, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the
Stony Brook (12-4) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Stony Brook was edged
82-79 at home by the University of South Florida.
Cornish had a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 12 rebounds. He also added 6 assists and 3 steals in 39 minutes.
The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA.
This year Cornish's total stats are: 9.4ppg, 4.3rpg, 3.6apg and 1.1spg in 33 games.
He is an international player who is currently on the senior Bahamas National Team roster.
#7. International power forward
Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college:
Wichita St., currently plays in Japan) was not able to secure a victory for
Akita Happinets (15-34) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his good performance the fifth-placed Akita Happinets (15-34) were badly defeated
97-77 in Tokyo by the higher-ranked Toyota Alvark (#3) in the East group.
Coleby was the second best scorer with 13 points. He also added 8 rebounds.
Coleby has reliable stats this season: 12.8ppg, 8.8rpg, 1.4apg and 2.3bpg.
Worth to mention Coleby played also at
Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. He is also Bahamas national team player.
#8. Center
Gjio Bain (211-85, college:
S.Mississippi, currently plays in Japan) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams
Kagoshima in their game against Tokyo Big Blue (36-13) in the Japanese B League D3, despite his very good performance on Sunday night.
Bain had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 22 rebounds in 37 minutes.
But Kagoshima lost
81-95 on their home court in Renova to the higher-ranked (#3) Tokyo Big Blue.
Bain's stats this year are: 12.3ppg and 11.0rpg in eight games.
He used to play for the Bahamas national team
back in 2011.
#9. International center
Zane Knowles (208-92, agency:
Octagon Europe, college:
Texas A&M-CC, currently plays in France) couldn't help
C'Chartres (10-8) in their game against Aix-Maurienne (7-16) in the French ProB (second division). Despite his very good performance in Friday night's game Knowles recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 10 rebounds.
Knowles' stats this season are: 11.9ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.1bpg.
He is also in the roster of the Bahamas national team.
#10. Forward
Charles Bain (203-96, is currently at the American university) couldn't help the
Robert Morris (11-7) in their game against the Presbyterian College (4-14) in the NCAA National Tournament Round 2, despite his very good performance last Sunday.
Bain had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 10 rebounds in 30 minutes.
But the Robert Morris lost
70-77 in Clinton to the Presbyterian College.
The National Tournament Round 2 already ended in the NCAA.
Bain averaged so far 10.1ppg and 4.6rpg in 34 games.
He is a former U17 international player as six years ago he still played for the Bahamas national team.
#11. International forward
Kentwan Smith (203-91, college:
Stetson, currently plays in Denmark) contributed to an easy victory against the leader EBAA crushing them
89-65 in the Danish BasketLigaen on Thursday night.
Smith recorded 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Smith has averaged so far 9.2ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.2apg.
He plays currently for the Bahamas national team.
#12. International forward
Jonathan Augustin-Fairell (201-93, agency:
Duran International, college:
Murray St., currently plays in France) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams
Denain Voltaire in their game against Quimper UJAP in the French ProB (second division).
Augustin-Fairell scored 7 points in only 13 minutes. It was his first game for Denain Voltaire this season.
His team was edged
90-88.
Augustin-Fairell has a dual citizenship: Bahamas and American.
He is also in the roster of the Bahamas national team.
#13. International center
Shaquille Cleare (203-93, college:
Texas, currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in a 1-point
Lleida Basquet's victory against the 15th-ranked Barca II
67-66 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) last Tuesday.
Cleare scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Cleare averaged so far 12.3ppg and 6.0rpg.
He is also Bahamas national team player.
#14. International forward
Dwight Coleby (206-94, college:
W.Kentucky, currently plays in Japan) is a teammate of previously mentioned Kadeem Coleby. But that was another game of his team in Japanese B League which we would like to mention.
Coleby couldn't help
Akita Happinets in their game against Chiba Jets.
He scored only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 20 minutes.
His team were crushed by 24 points
88-64.
Coleby averaged so far 13.4ppg, 10.3rpg, 1.7apg, 1.1bpg and 1.2spg in nine games.
He plays currently for the Bahamas national team.
#15. International swingman
J.R. Cadot (196-87, college:
TCU, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Aceitunas Fragata Moron in a 3-point victory against the tenth-ranked Gijon
77-74 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) last Saturday.
He scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 14 minutes.
Cadot has averaged so far 3.8ppg and 4.0rpg in eight games.
He is also in the roster of the Bahamas national team.
The list of other players, who all have Bahamas passport but never been selected to any of Bahamas national teams: #1. Klay Thompson (201-G-90, college:
Washington St., currently plays in NBA) was the major contributor in a
Golden State Warriors' victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves (33-40)
117-107 in the NBA on Tuesday night.
He scored 28 points (!!!) and added 4 assists in 38 minutes.
The Golden State Warriors have a solid 50-23 record this season.
Thompson is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his eighth year in Golden State Warriors' roster.
Thompson has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 22.2ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.4apg and 1.1spg in 70 games he played so far.
Thompson has a dual citizenship: Bahamas and American.
#2. Radshad Davis (188-G, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the
Texas Arlington (12-6) to beat the Georgia State University (13-5).
Davis scored 5 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
The Texas Arlington was defeated
73-64 at home by the Georgia State University.
The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA.
Davis has averaged so far 8.0ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.3apg.
