Here is the weekly review of the top performing Bahamas players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an international small forward
Mark St.Fort (200-88, college:
Warner, currently plays in Japan). He was the major contributor in a
Saitama Broncos' victory against the closely-ranked Shizuoka (3-2) crushing them
85-57 in the Japanese B3 League in Sunday night's game.
St.Fort had a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 4 assists in 34 minutes on the court.
Saitama Broncos (2-3) are placed seventh in the B3 League.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
It's St.Fort's first year with the team.
St.Fort has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 23.2ppg, 10.8rpg, 3.2apg, 1.8bpg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 68.8%(33-48), 3FGP: 42.9% and FT: 67.6% in five games he played so far.
Former Commonwealth Bank Giants starter played for the Bahamas senior national team one years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an international center
Zane Knowles (208-92, agency:
Octagon Europe, college:
Texas A&M-CC, currently plays in Greece). Knowles could not help
PAOK (1-0) to beat Ionikos Nikaias (1-2).
He scored 9 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
But PAOK was badly defeated
83-66 on the road by the lower-ranked Ionikos Nikaias (#9).
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
Knowles' overall stats this year are: 9.3ppg, 10.0rpg, 2FGP: 57.1%(12-21).
He played for the Bahamas national team in 2018.
#3. The Bahamas player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward
Kadeem Coleby (206-89, agency:
HMS, college:
Wichita St., currently plays in Japan). Coleby was not able to help
Akita Happinets (1-2) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance the sixth-placed Akita Happinets (1-2) were defeated
75-60 in Yokohama by the higher-ranked Yokohama BC (#3) in the East group.
Coleby was the second best scorer with 12 points. He also added 2 blocks.
But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go.
Coleby's overall stats this season are: 10.0ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.5apg, 2.0bpg, 2FGP: 52.6%.
Worth to mention he played also at
Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. He played for the Bahamas national team one years ago.
#4. An experienced forward
Jaraun Burrows (203-85, college:
PFW, currently plays in France) led
Aix-Maurienne to a 1-point victory against the 14th-ranked Lille Metropole (0-1)
94-93 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday.
Burrows recorded 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 35 minutes. It was his first game for Aix-Maurienne this season.
His team is placed first in the ProB.
Burrows used to play for the Bahamas national team
last year.
#5. International forward
Dwight Coleby (206-94, agency:
Interperformances, college:
WKU, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to secure a victory for
ITU BB (0-3) in their game against Darussafaka (2-1) in the Turkish BSL.
He scored 5 points.
The bottom-ranked ITU BB was crushed
98-61 in a derby game by the much higher-ranked Darussafaka (#9).
So far ITU BB lost all three games in the Regular Season.
Coleby's overall stats this season are: 9.0ppg and 3.5rpg.
He used to play for the Bahamas national team
last year.
#6. Center
Shaquille Cleare (203-93, college:
Texas, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help
Lleida Basquet (2-1) in their game against Castello (1-2) in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division).
Cleare scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 19 minutes.
Lleida Basquet lost
64-68 in Castellon to the lower-ranked (#12) Castello.
Cleare has relatively good stats this year: 13.7ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.7spg in three games.
He is an international player who is currently on the senior Bahamas National Team roster.
#7. International guard
Michael Carey (196-93, college:
Wagner, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Shaquille Cleare and both played together in the last Spanish LEB Gold game.
Carey couldn't help
Lleida Basquet (2-1) in their game against Castello (1-2).
He scored 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Lleida Basquet was defeated
68-64 in Castellon by the lower-ranked Castello (#12).
Carey's overall stats this season are: 5.0ppg, 2.7rpg and 2.0apg.
He is also Bahamas national team player.
#8. Power forward
Jonathan Augustin-Fairell (201-93, agency:
Duran International, college:
Murray St., currently plays in Belgium) couldn't help
Basic-Fit Brussels (1-3) in their game against Oostende (4-0) in the Belgian Euromillions League.
Augustin-Fairell scored only 4 points in 10 minutes.
Basic-Fit Brussels lost
62-74 on the opponent's court to the leading Oostende.
This year Augustin-Fairell has relatively solid stats: 10.3ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.8apg in four games.
He has a dual citizenship: Bahamas and American.
Augustin-Fairell used to play for the Bahamas national team
last year.
One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Bahamas passport: #1. Kevin Altidor (196-F-90, college:
Young Harris, currently plays in Norway) led
Tromso to a 1-point victory over the league outsider Asker Aliens (0-3)
96-95 in the Norwegian BLNO on Sunday night.
Altidor was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 33 points and getting 12 rebounds. Altidor also added 2 blocks and 3 steals in 38 minutes.
Tromso Storm (2-5) is placed eighth in the BLNO.
But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen.
It's Altidor's first year with the team.
He has individually a very good season with high stats. Altidor averages: 22.9ppg, 13.0rpg, 2.7apg and 2.4spg in seven games he played so far.
