Here is the weekly review of the top performing Bahamas players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an international forward
Tavario Miller (203-94, college:
Texas A&M, currently plays in Argentina). Miller led
Quimsa to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Libertad Sunchales (0-7) crushing them
95-74 in the Argentinian La Liga in Thursday night's game.
He scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in a mere 17 minutes on the court.
Quimsa Santiago del Estero (5-3) is placed first in Grupo B group.
It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
The Regular Season already ended.
It's Miller's first season with the team.
Miller has relatively good stats this year: 11.0ppg, 9.1rpg, 2.0spg, 2FGP: 52.7% and FT: 68.2% in eight games he played so far.
Worth to mention he played also at
Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. He played for the Bahamas senior national team one years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an international forward
Dwight Coleby (206-94, agency:
Interperformances, college:
WKU, currently plays in Turkey). Coleby could not help
ITU BB (0-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance the bottom-ranked ITU BB was crushed
105-67 on the road by the much higher-ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (#7).
Coleby recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 15 rebounds.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
This year Coleby has relatively solid stats: 11.3ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 62.5%(15-24).
He played for the Bahamas national team in 2018.
#3. The Bahamas player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward
Kadeem Coleby (206-89, agency:
HMS, college:
Wichita St., currently plays in Japan). He was not able to help
Akita Happinets (3-3) in their last game. Despite Coleby's very good performance the fifth-placed Akita Happinets (3-3) lost
71-78 in Okinawa to the higher-ranked (#4) Ryukyu GK in the East group.
He was the top scorer with 22 points. Coleby also added 4 rebounds and 6 blocks in 28 minutes.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
Coleby has reliable stats this year: 13.2ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.6apg, 3.2bpg, 2FGP: 57.8%(26-45) and FT: 66.7% in five games.
Coleby attended previously one of camps at
Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. He played for the Bahamas national team one years ago.
#4. Small forward
Mark St.Fort (200-88, college:
Warner, currently plays in Japan) was the major contributor in a
Saitama Broncos' victory against the closely-ranked Shizuoka (3-4) crushing them
85-57 in the Japanese B3 League in Sunday night's game.
St.Fort recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 4 assists.
Saitama Broncos (2-4) are placed eighth in the B3 League.
But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen.
St.Fort has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 20.7ppg, 10.7rpg, 2.7apg, 1.5bpg and 1.5spg.
St.Fort used to play for the Bahamas national team
last year.
#5. International power forward
David Nesbitt (200-91, college:
St.Thomas, FL, currently plays in Brazil) was not able to secure a victory for
Corinthians (7-3) in their last game. Despite his good performance Corinthians was edged
89-87 in a derby game by the lower-ranked (#6) Vivo/Franca.
Nesbitt was the second best scorer with 12 points. He also added 2 shots in a mere 19 minutes.
But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go.
This year Nesbitt's overall stats are: 9.0ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.5spg in two games.
He plays currently for the Bahamas national team.
#6. Center
Zane Knowles (208-92, agency:
Octagon Europe, college:
Texas A&M-CC, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) couldn't help
PAOK (0-1) in their game against Besiktas (1-0) in the Basketball Champions League. Despite his good performance on Tuesday night Knowles was the second best scorer with 11 points. He also added 7 rebounds. It was his first game for PAOK this season.
Knowles is international player as he played for the Bahamas senior team one years ago.
#7. An experienced international forward
Jaraun Burrows (203-85, college:
PFW, currently plays in France) couldn't help
Aix-Maurienne (1-1) in their game against Gries/Oberhoffen (1-1) in the French ProB (second division).
Burrows scored 9 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
But Aix-Maurienne was badly defeated
80-62 in Bischwiller by the much higher-ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (#6).
Burrows' stats this season are: 10.5ppg, 7.0rpg and 2.0apg.
He used to play for the Bahamas national team
last year.
One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Bahamas passport: #1. Kevin Altidor (196-F-90, college:
Young Harris, currently plays in Norway) was the major contributor in
Tromso's victory against the closely-ranked Centrum (3-3)
105-103 in the Norwegian BLNO in Sunday night's game.
He had a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 11 rebounds. Altidor also added 3 assists in 41 minutes.
Tromso Storm (3-5) is placed seventh in the BLNO.
Altidor has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 23.3ppg, 12.8rpg, 2.8apg and 2.4spg in eight games he played so far.
