NPBA Round 6: Abaco Strong lose their first game against Shockers- November 23, 2019
The Regular Season in NPBA just ended. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
Shockers - Abaco Strong 103-99 The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Abaco Strong (2-1) in Nassau on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Shockers (2-2) 103-99. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Abaco Strong. They outrebounded Abaco Strong 51-39 including 20 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shockers made 9 blocks. 37 personal fouls committed by Abaco Strong helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. William Rigby had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Horris McKenzie chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Chauncey Cooper with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds and Tevin Hudson scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Shockers and five Abaco Strong players scored in double figures. Shockers moved-up to third place, which they share with Regulators. Newly promoted Abaco Strong keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with High Flyers. (#4) and BIBT Great W. (#6). Bahamas Univ. (2-0) won against visiting BIBT Great W. (0-3) 73-62. Bahamas Univ. players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Rashad Sturrup notched a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and Christoff McKenzie supported him with 15 points and 7 assists. Five Bahamas Univ. players scored in double figures. Even 22 points by Nathan Sullivan did not help to save the game for BIBT Great W.. Jerard Ferguson added 12 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bahamas Univ. moved-up to second place. Newly promoted BIBT Great W. still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Rebels. Wolverines (2-3) won against visiting Rebels (0-3) 81-77. Wolverines forced 20 Rebels turnovers. The best player for the winners was Garvin Lightbourne who scored 21 points. American Dominique Fernander (, college: Hobart) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Five Wolverines players scored in double figures. Wolverines' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Martin Conliff who recorded 27 points and Deniro Kemp added 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively. Wolverines moved-up to fourth place. Rebels at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with BIBT Great W.. High Flyers (2-1) won against visiting Uptown Cuts (1-3) 97-93. High Flyers forced 26 Uptown Cuts turnovers and had a 31-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Uptown Cuts helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Jeremy Neely who led his team to a victory with 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Dave Davis contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 26 rebounds for the winners. High Flyers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Colton Albury replied with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and forward Salathiel Dean added 16 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Uptown Cuts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. High Flyers moved-up to second place, which they share with Abaco Strong. Uptown Cuts at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifth position with three games lost.
