Giants - Defenders 104-67 Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Nassau: Giants (#1) and Defenders (#5). Giants (5-0) smashed visiting Defenders (1-4) by 37 points 104-67. Giants dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Defenders' 38. Giants forced 26 Defenders turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Defenders' players. The winners were led by the former international power forward Eugene Bain (195-88, college: Bellevue) who scored that evening 19 points and 9 rebounds and Adam Johnson supported him with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Five Giants players scored in double figures. Giants' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 24 points and 19 rebounds by Gregory Seymour did not help to save the game for Defenders. Clayton Tucker added 11 points for the guests. Giants have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 5-0 record. Loser Defenders keep the fifth place with four games lost. Fourth ranked Wolverines (3-3) saved a 2-point derby victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Regulators (3-3) 71-69 in the game for the third place. Wolverines shot 28 for 48 from the free-throw line, while Regulators only scored nine points from the stripe. Wolverines forced 25 Regulators turnovers. Strangely Regulators outrebounded Wolverines 64-45 including a 38-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Regulators were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Henderson Curry who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds and forward Rashad Morley (198, college: Brock) who added 8 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Chico Francis responded with 4 points and 18 rebounds and Kenneth Pratt scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Regulators' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Wolverines moved-up to third place, which they share with Shockers and Regulators. Rebels were smashed at home by 33 points 62-95 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. High Flyers made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 34 Rebels turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Rebels helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Dave Davis who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jeremy Neely chipped in 17 points and 4 steals. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players saving starting five for next games. Forward Theo Ferguson produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds and Jason Cambridge added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. High Flyers have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted High Flyers maintains second position with 5-1 record having just one point less than leader Bahamas Univ. Rebels at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
