NPBA Round 14: Derby game ends with Giants' defeat of Rebels

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Nassau: Giants (#1) and Rebels (#6). Rebels were smashed at home by 43 points 56-99 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Giants outrebounded Rebels 50-38 including 35 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Rebels' players. Adam Johnson orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 7 rebounds. The former international point guard Jeffrey Henfield (193-85, college: Tarleton St.) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Giants' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Martin Conliff replied with 27 points and 5 rebounds for Rebels. Undefeated Giants (11-0) have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 11 victories in a row. Newly promoted Rebels keep the sixth place with eight games lost. Giants will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rebels' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau Bahamas Univ..
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Nassau: Shockers (#3) and Regulators (#4). Regulators were defeated at home 92-100 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Point guard Lenny Oscar scored 30 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and William Rigby chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Chico Francis responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds. Regulators' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shockers maintains third position with 7-4 record having four points less than leader Rockets. Regulators lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Uptown Cuts. Shockers' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau BIBT Great W..

BIBT Great W. was smashed at home by 33 points 59-92 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Livingston Munnings notched 22 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 21 points and 4 blocks by Trevez Hamilton did not help to save the game for BIBT Great W.. Rockets (10-1) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Newly promoted BIBT Great W. still closes the standings with ten games lost. Rockets' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau Defenders.
Another interesting game was also this time a derby match between teams from Nassau: Bahamas Univ. (#2) and Defenders (#5). Defenders were smashed at home by 26 points 69-95 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The best player for the winners was Kemsy Sylvestre who scored 30 points and 4 assists. Bahamas Univ. have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-2 record having just two points less than leader Rockets. Defenders lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with ten games lost. Bahamas Univ.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nassau to the arena Rebels.

Abaco Strong was defeated at home 93-101 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Colton Albury orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Uptown Cuts (4-7) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Regulators. Abaco Strong lost fourth consecutive game. Abaco Strong at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Uptown Cuts' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau Wolverines.

In the last game of round 14 winless BIBT Great W. was beaten by Uptown Cuts on the road 99-87.



Rebels - Giants 56-99

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Nassau: Shockers (#3) and Regulators (#4). Regulators were defeated at home 92-100 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Shockers dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Regulators' 32. Shockers forced 28 Regulators turnovers and had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Regulators were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Lenny Oscar scored 30 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and William Rigby chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Chico Francis responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds and Alexander Rolle (-93) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds.
