NPBA Round 15: High Flyers are defeated by Wolverines in a derby game- February 2, 2020
The teams have now bigger motivation at this stage of Regular Season. Every game can be crucial and decide about teams' position at the end of Regular Season. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
Wolverines - High Flyers 86-78 The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Nassau: Wolverines (#3) and High Flyers (#2). Wolverines (6-7) won against visiting High Flyers (8-3) 86-78. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of High Flyers. Wolverines forced 22 High Flyers turnovers. 29 personal fouls committed by High Flyers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American Dominique Fernander (, college: Hobart) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Tomeko Moxey helped adding 20 points and 9 rebounds. Four Wolverines players scored in double figures. Wolverines' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Jeremy Neely with 27 points and Rashad Ingraham scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Wolverines have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Wolverines maintains third place with 6-7 record having three points less than leader Rockets. High Flyers at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the second position with three games lost. (#2) and Regulators (#4). Bahamas Univ. (10-2) won against visiting Regulators (4-8) 89-82. Strangely Regulators outrebounded Bahamas Univ. 55-37 including a 30-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Regulators were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Robert Joseph (178, college: N.Okl.-Enid. JC) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Rashad Sturrup accounted for 12 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side. Bahamas Univ.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Alexander Rolle (-93) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and Australian forward Lloyd Bailey (193) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Regulators in the defeat. Bahamas Univ. have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 10-2 record behind leader Rockets. Regulators lost fourth consecutive game. Rockets (11-1) crushed visiting Defenders (1-11) by 40 points 104-64. Rockets dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Defenders' 38. They outrebounded Defenders 58-33 including a 39-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Rockets looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Defenders' players. The best player for the winners was the former international center Livingston Munnings (-92) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Able Joseph chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Rockets' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Clayton Tucker who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds and Carrington Dean added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively. They outrebounded Wolverines 57-29 including a 41-22 advantage in defensive rebounds.
