Giants - High Flyers 99-80

Giants opened win count in the semifinal series versus High Flyers. They claimed a comfortable home win in Game 1. Giants looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by High Flyers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard DShon Taylor (196-93, college: Norfolk St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international guard Jackson Jacob (186, college: NAIT) contributed with 27 points for the winners. Jeremy Neely answered with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Dave Davis added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for High Flyers. Four Giants and five High Flyers players scored in double figures.

Rockets - Bahamas Univ. 86-59

Rockets crushed Bahamas University in the opener. Rockets dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Bahamas Univ.'s 16. They outrebounded Bahamas Univ. 62-26 including a 46-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Rockets players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Bahamas Univ.'s players. The former international center Livingston Munnings (-92) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 21 rebounds for the winners and international forward Danrad Knowles (208-92, college: Houston) chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. Rockets' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side point guard Robert Joseph (178, college: NOC-Enid JC) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Rashad Sturrup scored 7 points and 8 rebounds.
