Here is the weekly review of the top performing Bahamas players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is former international power forward
Jonathan Augustin-Fairell (201-93, agency:
Duran International, college:
Murray St., currently plays in Portugal). He led
FC Porto to a victory over the ninth-ranked Academica (0-1)
62-55 in the Portuguese LPB in Sunday night's game.
Augustin-Fairell was MVP of the game. He recorded 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 26 minutes on the court. It was his first game for FC Porto this season.
His team is placed second in the LPB.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
Augustin-Fairell has a dual citizenship: Bahamas and American.
He played for the Bahamas senior national team two years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an experienced international forward
Jaraun Burrows (203-85, college:
PFW, currently plays in France). Burrows was the major contributor in a 2-point
Provence Basket's victory against the league outsider Saint-Quentin (0-1)
73-71 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday.
He recorded 18 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. It was his first game for Provence Basket this season.
His team is placed third in the ProB.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
Burrows is in the roster of the Bahamas senior national team.
#3. The Bahamas player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward
Travis Munnings (198-94, also represented by
Duran International, college:
ULM, currently plays in Portugal). He contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Ovarense (0-1) crushing them
73-53 in the Portuguese LPB on Saturday night.
Munnings recorded 11 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 26 minutes. It was his first game for Oliveirense this season.
His team is placed fifth in the LPB.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Munnings is another player who holds two passports: Bahamas and American.
He is also a member of the Bahamas senior national team.
#4. Power forward
Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college:
Wichita St., currently plays in Japan) was the main contributor in an
Akita Happinets' victory against the eighth-ranked Kyoto Hannaryz (0-4)
90-71 in the Japanese B1 League in Saturday night's game.
He was the best player in that game. Coleby scored 21 points, had 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks.
Akita Northern Happinets (4-0) are placed first in East group.
So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
It's Coleby's fourth year with the team.
He has relatively good stats this season: 14.3ppg, 7.3rpg and 1.8apg.
Worth to mention Coleby played also at
Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Coleby used to play for the Bahamas national team
back in 2018.
#5. Former international center
Gjio Bain (212-85, college:
Southern Miss, currently plays in Japan). He could not help
San-en NeoPhoenix (0-4) to beat Chiba Jets (3-1).
Bain was the second best scorer with 8 points. He also added 2 shots in 25 minutes.
The ninth-placed San-en NeoPhoenix (0-4) was crushed
103-54 on the road by the higher-ranked (#4) Chiba Jets in the West group.
So far San-en NeoPhoenix lost all four games in the Regular Season.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
It's Bain's first year with the team.
This season Bain averages: 4.5ppg and 4.3rpg in four games he played so far.
He used to play for the Bahamas national team
nine years ago.
#6. Small forward
Mark St.Fort (200-88, college:
Warner, currently plays in Japan) managed to help SeaHorses Mikawa to win against the tenth-ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (1-3)
89-87 in the Japanese B1 League on Sunday night.
St.Fort scored only 3 points.
SeaHorses Mikawa (4-0) is placed first in West group.
So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
It's St.Fort's first year with the team.
His overall stats this season are: 2.5ppg and 1.5rpg.
St.Fort is a former international player as he played for the Bahamas senior team two years ago.
#7. International forward
Willis Mackey (203-96, another player represented by
Duran International, college:
UNOH, currently plays in France) was not able to help
JSA Bordeaux in their game against Lorient (2-1) in the French NM1 (third division).
He scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
JSA Bordeaux (#14) was crushed
80-56 on the opponent's court by the much higher-ranked Lorient (#4) in the Group A.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
It's Mackey's first year with the team.
Mackey's overall stats this season are: 5.0ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.5apg.
He is also Bahamas national team player.
One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Bahamas passport: #1. Aaron Levarity (203-F-97, college:
Milligan, currently plays in Denmark) managed to help Svendborg Rabbits in a 2-point victory against the fifth-ranked Naestved (2-1)
64-62 in the Danish BasketLigaen in Tuesday night's game.
He scored only one point in 18 minutes.
Svendborg Rabbits (2-0) is placed third in Pro A group.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
It's Levarity's first year with the team.
This season Levarity's overall stats are: 10.0ppg and 5.0rpg in two games he played so far.
