We bring you last week's top performances from Bahamians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
#1. This week's number one is an international power forward
Aaron Levarity (203-97, college:
Milligan, currently plays in Denmark). He led
Svendborg to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Copenhagen (1-2) crushing them
97-74 in the Danish BasketLigaen in Saturday night's game.
Levarity had a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 3 assists in 26 minutes on the court.
Svendborg Rabbits (3-0) is placed second in the BasketLigaen.
So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
Levarity has relatively good stats this year: 12.3ppg, 11.3rpg, 2.3apg, 2FGP: 57.7%(15-26) in three games he played so far.
He is currently a member of the Bahamas senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an international forward
Travis Munnings (198-94, agency:
Duran International, college:
ULM, currently plays in Portugal). Munnings contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Vitoria SC (1-1) crushing them
96-57 in the Portuguese LPB last Tuesday.
He scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Sport Lisboa Benfica (2-0) is placed first in the LPB.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
It's Munnings' first year with the team.
This season Munnings averages: 4.5ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 57.1% and FT: 33.3%.
He has a dual citizenship: Bahamas and American.
Munnings is in the roster of the Bahamas senior national team.
#3. The Bahamas player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international forward
Jaraun Burrows (203-85, college:
PFW, currently plays in France). He contributed to a
STB Le Havre's victory against the 14th-ranked CFBB (0-4)
79-65 in the French NM1 (third division) on Friday night.
Burrows scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 20 minutes.
in Group B. Saint Thomas Basket Le Havre (4-0) is placed first.
So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
This year Burrows' overall stats are: 7.0ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 58.3% and FT: 87.5% in three games.
He played for the Bahamas national team one years ago.
#4. Guard
Shamar Burrows (190-97, currently plays in Canada) was the major contributor in a
Dalhousie University's victory against the Huskies (2-1)
100-92 in a derby game in the U Sports in Sunday night's game.
Burrows recorded 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. It was his first game for Dalhousie University this season.
His team has record this season.
Burrows is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Dalhousie University's roster.
He used to play for the Bahamas U16 national team
back in 2013.
#5. Former U17 international forward
Qyemah Gibson (196-97, currently plays in Canada) faced previously mentioned Shamar Burrows in the U Sports last game.
Gibson could not help the
Saint Mary's University in their last game. Despite his very good performance his team lost
92-100 in a derby game to the Tigers.
Gibson recorded 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 31 minutes.
Gibson has been at the team for four years.
This season he has relatively solid stats: 13.0ppg and 6.5rpg in two games.
Gibson used to play for the Bahamas U17 national team
eight years ago.
#6. Power forward
Robert Nortmann (204-87, college:
Dalhousie, currently plays in Germany) was not able to help
Schwelm in their game against Kangaroos (3-0) in the German ProB (third division). Nortmann cannot count it as his best performance.
He recorded only 2 points in 17 minutes.
The 13th-placed Schwelm (0-3) lost
82-89 on the road to the leading Kangaroos in the South group.
So far Schwelm lost all three games in the Regular Season.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
It's Nortmann's first year with the team.
This season Nortmann's total stats are: 4.0ppg and 1.3rpg in three games.
He is international player as he played for the Bahamas senior team one years ago.
#7. International power forward
Shaquillo Fritz (203-94, college:
Pacific, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Zamora Enamora to win against the ninth-ranked Carbajosa (0-1) crushing them
85-60 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) last Saturday.
Fritz recorded only 2 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. It was his first game for Zamora this season.
in group West. His team is placed sixth.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Fritz used to play for the Bahamas national team
last year.
One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Bahamas passport: #1. Azaro Roker (198-F-97, college:
St.Francis X., currently plays in Spain) managed to help Acunsa Gipuzkoa BC San Sebastian to win against the 11th-ranked Almansa (0-1) crushing them
105-76 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Saturday night.
He recorded only one point. It was his first game for Acunsa GBC this season.
His team is placed first in the LEB Gold.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
