NPBA Round 16: Giants lose the game and top position

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in NPBA. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game of round 16 was a defeat of league's leader Giants (7-2). They were edged by first ranked Sand Dollar (8-1) 89-88 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Giants. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Sand Dollar forced 23 Giants turnovers and had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Giants helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Rashad Ingraham who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 4 steals and guard Van Hutchinson (193) who added 6 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side the former international power forward Eugene Bain (195-1988, college: Bellevue) responded with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Giants' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sand Dollar have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-1 record. Giants at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Sand Dollar. Giants will play next round against strong TMT Giants trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau - TMT Giants. Sand Dollar will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Nassau: Tucker Boys (#5) and Zulu MM (#5). Zulu MM was smashed at home by 33 points 67-100 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The winners were led by Arlington Brown who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and Leon Bain supported him with 25 points. Even 23 points and 4 steals by guard Stephan Burrows (186-1992, college: Lee) did not help to save the game for Zulu MM. Tucker Boys (2-8) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rebels. Zulu MM at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Tucker Boys will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Zulu MM's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nassau to the arena Shockers.

It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Shockers. Van Hutchinson fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Sand Dollar's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dominique Fernander produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for lost side. Sand Dollar have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-1 record. Loser Shockers keep the second place with four games lost. Sand Dollar will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shockers' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau Zulu MM.

In the last game of round 16 Shockers destroyed Rebels on the opponent's court 114-75.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 22 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals by William Rigby of Shockers.



Zulu MM - Tucker Boys 67-100

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Nassau: Tucker Boys (#5) and Zulu MM (#5). Zulu MM was smashed at home by 33 points 67-100 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Tucker Boys outrebounded Zulu MM 55-27 including a 25-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Zulu MM's players. The winners were led by Arlington Brown who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and Leon Bain supported him with 25 points. Five Tucker Boys players scored in double figures. Even 23 points and 4 steals by guard Stephan Burrows (186-1992, college: Lee) did not help to save the game for Zulu MM. Kriston Marshall added 12 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for lost side. Tucker Boys (2-8) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rebels. Zulu MM at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Tucker Boys will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Zulu MM's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nassau to the arena Shockers.

Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Nassau: Sand Dollar (#1) and Shockers (#2). Sand Dollar (8-1) won against visiting Shockers (7-4) 96-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Shockers. They outrebounded Shockers 60-45 including 25 on the offensive glass. Sand Dollar looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Van Hutchinson (193) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Dave Davis chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Sand Dollar's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Dominique Fernander (, college: Hobart) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and William Rigby added 25 points respectively for lost side. Rebels - Shockers 75-114

Rather expected game in Nassau where 4th ranked Rebels (2-8) were crushed by second ranked Shockers (7-4) 114-75 on Saturday. Shockers dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Rebels' 42. Shockers forced 27 Rebels turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Rebels' players. Guard Spurgeon Johnson fired 31 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American Dominique Fernander (, college: Hobart) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Deniro Kemp produced 27 points and 6 rebounds and forward Theo Ferguson added 17 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Shockers and four Rebels players scored in double figures. Shockers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 7-4 record having just two points less than leader Sand Dollar. Loser Rebels keep the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Tucker Boys. Shockers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau Zulu MM.
