The most exciting game of round 8 in the NPBA took place in Nassau. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Regulators (2-3) to top-ranked Sand Dollar (3-0) 76-73 in the game for the second place. Sand Dollar dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Regulators' 28. Sand Dollar forced 21 Regulators turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Van Hutchinson (193) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and Jeremy Neely who added 18 points and 4 steals during the contest. Sand Dollar's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Alexander Rolle (-1993) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Sand Dollar have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 3-0 record behind leader Giants. Regulators at the other side keep the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Sunlight CS. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Sixth ranked Island DR (2-4) saved a 1-point derby victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Tucker Boys (1-2) 77-76 in the fight for the fourth place. The winners were led by Toureque Cartwright who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 21 rebounds and Dejoan Sturrup supported him with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 17 points and 21 rebounds by Franz Smith did not help to save the game for Tucker Boys. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Island DR moved-up to fourth place. Tucker Boys at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Bahamas Univ. managed to escape with a 3-point win 68-65 in the fight for the third place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sunlight CS. The best player for the winners was Delano Armbrister who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Camron Strachan produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 22 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Bahamas Univ. moved-up to third place which they share with defeated Sunlight CS. Loser Sunlight CS keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with Regulators. Bahamas Univ.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nassau to the arena Shockers.

In the last game of round 8 Zulu MM lost to TMT Giants on the opponent's court 72-80.




Bahamas Univ. - Sunlight CS 68-65

A very close game took place in Nassau between Bahamas Univ. and Sunlight CS. Fourth ranked Bahamas Univ. (3-3) got a very close home victory over one of their biggest challengers Sunlight CS (2-3). Bahamas Univ. managed to escape with a 3-point win 68-65 in the fight for the third place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sunlight CS. Bahamas Univ. forced 20 Sunlight CS turnovers. The best player for the winners was Delano Armbrister who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Theodore Grant chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Rather expected game in Nassau where 5th ranked Zulu MM (1-3) was defeated by second ranked TMT Giants (4-1) 80-72 on Friday. TMT Giants forced 19 Zulu MM turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when TMT Giants made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was Donovan Dean who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Adrian Thompson (193) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Forward Jonaldo Joseph (198, college: RWU) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and Bertrum Minns added 18 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the guests. TMT Giants keep a position of league leader, which they share with Rockets. Loser Zulu MM keeps the fifth place with three games lost.
