Bahamas NPBA round 8 best performance: Toureque Cartwright

Toureque Cartwright put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Island Development Rebels, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The player had a double-double of 23 points and 21 rebounds, while his team edged out Tucker Boys (#5, 1-2) 77-76. Island DR is placed at 4th position in Bahamas NPBA. Island DR is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-4 record. In the team's last game Cartwright had a remarkable 58.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Island DR's top player in his first season with the team. Toureque Cartwright has solid league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 14.6rpg).

The second best player in last round's games was young Christopher Johnson (190-F-2000) of league's second-best TMT Giants. Johnson had a very good evening with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. Of course TMT Giants cruised to a 80-72 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Zulu MM (#5, 1-4). TMT Giants' second position in Derrick Bats Ferguson has not changed. His team's 4-2 record is not bad at all. Johnson is a newcomer at TMT Giants and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was Franz Smith of Tucker Boys (#5). Smith scored 17 points and grabbed 21 rebounds (!!!). Despite Smith's great performance the Tucker Boys lost 76-77 to slightly higher-ranked Island DR (#4, 2-4). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Tucker Boys not to end season at such low position in Michael Boshang Cooper, however are less than slim as they have already lost 2 games, recording just one victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Smith could try to bring Tucker Boys' a little bit higher in the standings. Smith has individually a great season in Bahamas. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.0rpg (7th best).
