The most exciting game of round 8 in the NPBA took place in Nassau. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 8th ranked TMT Giants (1-4) to third ranked Bamboo SE (5-1) 50-47 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Guard David Taylor orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points. Guard Mikhail Rolle (190-1994, college: St.Thomas, FL) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Daniel Hall replied with 18 points for TMT Giants. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bamboo SE have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. TMT Giants lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. Bamboo SE are looking forward to face Tucker Boys (#5) in Nassau in the next round. TMT Giants will have a break next round.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Nassau: Rockets (#1) and Shockers (#7). Rockets (5-0) won against visiting Shockers (1-3) 64-57. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Abel Joseph (200-1990, college: Holland) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Kemsey Sylvestre who added 9 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Rockets' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. William Rigby responded with 9 points and 13 rebounds. Undefeated Rockets have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-0 record. Shockers lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with three games lost. Rockets' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nassau to the arena Sand Dollar.

The winners were led by Jeremy Neely who scored that evening 20 points and 6 rebounds. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by Ishad Rolle did not help to save the game for Island DR. Island DR's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sand Dollar have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 4-0 record behind leader Rockets. Island DR at the other side dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. Sand Dollar's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau Rockets.




Sand Dollar - Island DR 73-58

The game between top-ranked Sand Dollar (4-0) and 5th ranked Island DR (2-2) in Nassau on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Sand Dollar beat guests from 73-58. Sand Dollar outrebounded Island DR 40-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sand Dollar made 7 blocks. The winners were led by Jeremy Neely who scored that evening 20 points and 6 rebounds and Dave Davis supported him with 4 points and 11 rebounds. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by Ishad Rolle did not help to save the game for Island DR. Point guard Kevin Wright (178, college: Bevill St.Sumit.) added 12 points for the guests.
