Munnings' monster 22-point, 15-rebound double-double lifts Rockets past Crusaders for BBF Nationals Division I crown- April 30, 2026The Caribbean Moonshine Rockets captured the BBF National Basketball Tournament Division I title with a hard-fought 92-90 victory over the Abaco Crusaders at Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium, surviving a relentless challenge from the Family Island side in a game that came down to the wire.
Livingston Munnings (201-F-1992) was the difference-maker, delivering a dominant 22-point, 15-rebound double-double — including an astonishing 11 offensive boards — while adding four assists, two steals, and four blocks in 31 tireless minutes. The big man's work on the glass gave the Rockets a commanding 53-40 rebounding advantage, with 21 offensive rebounds generating the crucial second-chance points that proved decisive in a two-point game. Abel Joseph (200-G-1990, college: Holland) led the Rockets' scoring with 24 points on 8-of-23 shooting, connecting on three triples and adding 12 rebounds and four assists for a double-double of his own. Georgio Walkes (SG) caught fire from deep with 20 points on four three-pointers and an 80 percent clip from the free-throw line, while Kemsey Sylvestre (C) contributed 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting and a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. Devon Ferguson) added nine points with three triples and five rebounds. For the Crusaders, Godfrey Rolle Iii (180-PG-1996, college: SW Baptist) III — the national team veteran — was magnificent in defeat, pouring in 28 points on 9-of-13 shooting and converting all eight of his free throws. Chauncy Cooper, who won the tournament's Defensive Player award when the Crusaders finished third in 2025, added 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Adney Bethel (1994) contributed 17 points with three triples and T. Roberts had 15 points — 11 of which came from the free-throw line (11-of-14). But the Crusaders were outrebounded 53-40, giving up 21 offensive boards that allowed the Rockets to overcome their 40.5 percent shooting with sheer persistence on the offensive glass. The Division I title adds to the Rockets' domestic trophy cabinet alongside their back-to-back NPBA championships won in 2024 and 2025. The New Providence powerhouse now hold both the premier club-level title and the national inter-island crown. |
