THE QUEENS have been dethroned - without even taking the court. Local basketball's richest legacy won't have another chapter added to it in 2016, as reigning 12-time champs Station Hill Cavaliers shockingly pulled out of this season's No.1 Beauty Supplies and Beauty Exchange Women's League because they were unable to register eight players. The news broke just hours before lady Cavs were slated to play yesterday's season opener against Burger King Clapham Bulls at the Barbados Community College, with the club informing the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association [BABA] of its decision to withdraw via email. 'We just don't have enough players to make up a minimum of eight to meet the required amount and even if we were able to go forward I doubt we would even be able to field six players on most nights,' said Astrid Alleyne (185-F/C-78).
