Lakers and Pinelands reach Finals - Jul 9, 2017

Lakers and Pinelands advanced into BABA Finals.
Lakers rallied past Sonics 78-68 in the decisive third game of the series. Chiamaka Browne (193-F) posted 20 points and 12 assists to lead the winners. Lakers grabbed a 40:25 halftime lead. Sonics narrowed the gap in the second half but could not avoid the defeat. Keefe Birkett (183-G-88) chipped in 17 points for the winners. Akeem Marsh (206-F/C-87) responded with 23 points and 8 boards for Sonics.
Pinelands outscored Cavaliers 92-90 to ensure the championship series birth. Pinelands used a strong 29:12 run in the second term to gain a 44:25 halftime advantage. Cavaliers unleashed 41 points in the fourth stanza but could not avoid the loss. Jeremy Gill (183-G-81) tossed in 21 points, while Ian Alexander (198-F, college: John Brown) provided 20 points in the win. Darren Hunte (G/F) replied with 23 points and 9 caroms for Cavaliers.

Apparently Warriors only delayed the inevitable. The title is staying in Husbands. Lumber Company Lakers are still the kings, as co-MVPs John Jones and Chiamaka Browne (193-G) both had double-doubles as part of the champs' 68-51 Game 5 victory in Monday's Co-operators General Insurance Premier League finals at the Barbados Community College. The champs now need one in their quest for six. Lumber Company Lakers are just a game away from another Co-operators General Insurance Premier League title, having survived one furious fourth-quarter rally before pulling out Tuesday's 78-74 Game 3 victory over Hilton Barbados Warriors at the Wildey Gym.
