BABA Round 7 (Regular Season): Cavaliers beat Bulls by one after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 7 in the BABA took place in Bridgetown. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd placed Bulls (5-3) to second ranked Cavaliers (8-1) 86-85 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Bulls. Cavaliers forced 19 Bulls turnovers and outrebounded them 69-45 including a 26-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Saeed Norville (201-1992) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. Forward Adriel Brathwaite (, college: Orange CC) contributed with 10 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Cavaliers' coach Adrian Craigwell used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Simeon Maynard answered with 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists for Bulls. Cavaliers maintains second place with 8-1 record having just one point less than leader Pinelands. Bulls at the other side keep the third position with three games lost. They share it with Celtics.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Bridgetown: Tridents (#5) and Spartans (#8). Tridents (3-6) won against visiting Spartans (0-9) 82-77. It was a great evening for forward Antoine Winter who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Zane Gaskin helped adding 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Tridents' coach C. Edwards allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side Karlos Greenidge responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds. Tridents maintains fifth place with 3-6 record, which they share with Lakers. Spartans at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost.

It was an exceptional evening for Brandon Ruck who led the winners and scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Cavaliers' coach Adrian Craigwell felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jehu Lafeuillee came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 9 blocks (made all of his seven free throws) for Lakers in the defeat. Cavaliers maintains second place with 8-1 record having just one point less than leader Pinelands. Loser Lakers dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Tridents.

Other games in round 7 were not that significant. Lakers beat Warrens on the road 87-70. Tridents were destroyed by Celtics on its own court 48-85. Pinelands outscored Spartans in Bridgetown 115-67.
The most impressive performance of 7th round was 27 points, 13 assists and 13 steals by Deroni Hurley of Pinelands.



Tridents - Spartans 82-77

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Bridgetown: Tridents (#5) and Spartans (#8). Tridents (3-6) won against visiting Spartans (0-9) 82-77. Tridents forced 23 Spartans turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. It was a great evening for forward Antoine Winter who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Zane Gaskin helped adding 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Tridents' coach C. Edwards allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side Karlos Greenidge responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds and Sean Harding scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Spartans players scored in double figures. Tridents maintains fifth place with 3-6 record, which they share with Lakers. Cavaliers - Lakers 92-65

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Bridgetown: Cavaliers (#2) and Lakers (#7). Cavaliers (8-1) crushed visiting Lakers (3-6) by 27 points 92-65. Cavaliers dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Lakers' 32. They outrebounded Lakers 56-45 including 41 on the defensive glass. Cavaliers looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Lakers' players. It was an exceptional evening for guard Brandon Ruck who led the winners and scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Adriel Brathwaite (, college: Orange CC) accounted for 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Five Cavaliers players scored in double figures. Warrens - Lakers 70-87

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when seventh ranked Lakers (3-6) beat on the road 6th ranked Warrens (2-6) 87-70 on Sunday. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Ricardo Jemmott who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds. Naturalized Grenadian forward Jehu Lafeuillee (203, college: IU East) accounted for 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Kaliel Austin came up with 14 points and 6 rebounds and center Jonathan Dottin (203) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Warrens in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Warrens' coach P. Griffith rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Lakers moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Tridents. Loser Warrens dropped to the seventh position with six games lost.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Tridents' (3-6) home loss to fourth ranked Celtics (5-3) in Bridgetown 48-85 on Sunday. Celtics dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Tridents' 36. Celtics forced 34 Tridents turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for guard Tehron King who led the winners and scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Theo Greenidge accounted for 15 points for the winning side. Celtics' coach C Vanderpool felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Tristan Yarde came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and forward Antoine Winter added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Tridents in the defeat. Celtics moved-up to third place, which they share with Bulls. Loser Tridents keep the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Lakers.

Very predictable result when leader Pinelands (8-0) rolled over bottom-ranked Spartans (0-9) in Bridgetown 115-67 on Sunday. Pinelands forced 40 Spartans turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Spartans' players. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Deroni Hurley (175-2001) who led the winners with a triple-double by scoring 27 points, 13 assists and 13 steals. Guard Rasheed Maynard (188-2000) accounted for 23 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for the winning side. Five Pinelands players scored in double figures. Kadian Brathwaite came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Karlos Greenidge added 17 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Spartans in the defeat. Pinelands have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 8-0 record. Loser Spartans still closes the standings with nine games lost.
