Regular Season Round 4: La Union - Gimnasia 67-72

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked La Union (2-3) lost to fourth ranked Gimnasia (4-1) in Formosa 67-72 on Tuesday. The winners were led by Cuban forward Joaquin Mensia (198-1997, agency: Pro Sports) who scored that evening 22 points and 6 rebounds and American center Gerard DeVaughn (205-1988, college: Stillman) supported him with 16 points and 10 rebounds. DeVaughn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 13 points and 6 rebounds by American guard Michael Henry (196-1995, college: Buffalo St.) did not help to save the game for La Union. His fellow American import guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) added 18 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gimnasia moved-up to third place. Loser La Union dropped to the eleventh position with three games lost. They share it with Obras and Quimsa. Gimnasia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. La Union will play against Obras (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
