Regular Season Round 4: Tucuman - Sarmiento R. 101-71

There was an upset when bottom-ranked Sarmiento R. (0-1) was smashed by fifteenth ranked Tucuman (1-1) in San Miguel de Tucuman 101-71 on Tuesday. Tucuman looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Sarmiento R.'s players. The winners were led by power forward Conrado Echevarria (195-1998, agency: BIG) who scored that evening 23 points and 8 rebounds and guard Jose Muruaga (188-1984) supported him with 16 points and 6 assists. Five Tucuman players scored in double figures. Even 30 points by American forward Marquel Wiggins (201-1998, college: Dalton St.) did not help to save the game for Sarmiento R.. Andres Mariani (190-1987) added 16 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tucuman left bottom position moving up to eighth place in Liga Argentina. Newly promoted Sarmiento R. still closes the standings with one game lost. Tucuman will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sarmiento R. will play against Salta Basket (#9) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
