Everything went according to plan in Cordoba where sixth ranked Penarol (3-3) outscored 16th ranked Atenas (1-4) 82-56 on Friday. The best player for the winners was Pablo Alderete (203-1993) who scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. Point guard Alejandro Konsztadt (191-1989) produced 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Maximiliano Araujo (183-2002) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Penarol went down to seventh position due to points difference, which they share with 3 other teams. Atenas lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighteenth place with four games lost. They share the position with Riachuelo LR. Penarol will meet Independ.O. (#17) in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
