Regular Season Round 7: Morovis - Manati 59-74

An exciting game was played in Morovis. First ranked Atenienses faced 4th placed Montaneras. Guests from Manati (6-1) defeated host Montaneras (3-4) 74-59. Atenienses dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Montaneras' 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Linnae Harper (175-1995, college: Ohio St.) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Nigerian-American Adaora Elonu (185-1990, college: Texas A&M) helped adding 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). At the losing side American guard Mikayla Pivec (178-1997, college: Oregon St.) responded with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Jasmine Walker (190-1998, college: Alabama) scored 16 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Atenienses maintains first place with 6-1 record. Loser Montaneras keep the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Carolina. Atenienses will meet league's second-placed Moca on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Montaneras will play against Cangrejeras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
