The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Circulo (0-10) in Salto on Thursday night. Hosts were rolled over by fifth ranked Universitario (3-7) 90-55. Universitario dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Circulo's 22. Universitario forced 26 Circulo turnovers and outrebounded them 53-40 including a 41-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. Universitario looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Circulo's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Andre McPhail (201-1993, college: CS Los Angeles) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. Forward Michael Nunez (191-1991) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Universitario players scored in double figures. Point guard Luciano Martinez (175-2005) replied with 17 points and 6 rebounds and guard Nicolas Torrens (169-1998) added 11 points in the effort for Circulo. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Universitario moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Juventus. Circulo at the other side still keeps top with ten games lost.
