Regular Season Round 5: Bigua - Olimpia 85-69

Very expected game in Montevideo where 10th ranked Olimpia (1-4) was defeated by sixth ranked Bigua (3-1) 85-69 on Friday. Bigua looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Brazilian center Luis Santos (194-1994) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 19 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners and forward Martin Rojas (195-1998) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Bigua players scored in double figures. American forward Quintin Dove (200-1998, college: UT Martin) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import point guard Marcus Thomas (191-1995, college: Rosemont) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Olimpia lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. They share it with Hebraica. Bigua's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Penarol.
