Regular Season Round 9: Truenos - Concepcion 63-129

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Talca. Leader Concepcion faced second-best Truenos. Guests from Concepcion (6-0) smashed host Truenos (3-2) 129-63. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Truenos. Concepcion dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Truenos' 32. They outrebounded Truenos 45-23 including a 33-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Concepcion looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Truenos' players. The best player for the winners was American forward Jerry Evans (203-1990, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. International point guard Sebastian Carrasco (180-2000) chipped in 14 points and 8 assists. Four Concepcion players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Nick Morales (187-1985) who recorded 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Ricardo Gomez (176-1993) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Concepcion have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-0 record, which they share with Ancud. Truenos at the other side keep the second position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Concepcion will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Truenos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Talca to the arena Talca.
