Regular Season Round 14: Santa Tecla - Chalchuapa 116-63

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (0-20) was outleveled on the road by second ranked Santa Tecla (16-4) 116-63 on Friday. Santa Tecla dominated down low during the game scoring 92 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 48. Santa Tecla forced 23 Chalchuapa turnovers and outrebounded them 54-25 including a 39-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Santa Tecla looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Chalchuapa's players. Dominican Ezequiel Perez (201) notched a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and American forward Christopher Blake (195-1988, college: Detroit) supported him with 26 points. Five Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. Santa Tecla's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 24 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists by Jamaican-American forward Devin Thompson (199-1980, college: St.Peter's) did not help to save the game for Chalchuapa. Eleazar Herrera (195-1995) added 14 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Santa Tecla have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Quezaltepeque and Aguila. Chalchuapa at the other side still closes the standings.
